Georgia

Crime in Georgia has always been an ongoing issue. With cities like Atlanta and even down south to Columbus Georgia we have seen crime rate sky rocket. Since 2000 we have seen crime increase by each year. This has caused many issue with our economy and everyday life. For example in Columbus Georgia, After 8pm you have to have someone over 18 with you to go to places like the bowling alley. There Is medal detector guards at each front door. When I was growing up as a kid in Columbus I never saw these guards and never had to have anyone over 18 to be out past 8pm. Since the crime impact residents have decided to move out of Columbus and go to the surrounding areas such as Harris county and Alabama. Medium size cities saw the worst of it in 2020 with violent crimes jumping up 71%. Crime has actually decreased job growth within the state because of this. It has also impacted kids who grow up in low income families. Not only violent crimes are bad in Georgia but property crimes as well. Georgia is above the national average by about 17%. Out of 10.8 million people in Georgia over 4.2 million have a criminal record.
